The current Battalion of The Royal Winnipeg Rifles consists of a battalion headquarters, a single rifle company of operationally ready, field deployable infantry soldiers, and a skeleton headquarters company.

Throughout its history, The Royal Winnipeg Rifles have supported up to four companies, providing support to the Regular Force through all major conflicts faced by Canada. The Battalion’s focus and role has evolved over time, but it has maintained its primary role as light infantry. Besides providing soldiers for overseas conflicts, The Royal Winnipeg Rifles has supported domestic operations, such as flood fighting efforts. With the latest tasking of establishing and maintaining an Arctic Response Company, The Royal Winnipeg Rifles are proving to be a vital part of the Canadian Army, ensuring the proud history of the Regiment lives on.
